Raj is a professional with more than 25 years of experience in the corporate and academic areas in India , Europe, Africa and the USA.
A Multi faceted person with a multi dimensional work experience .
Abilities include team building, client relationships, Organizational Behaviour and Development and Business Communication. These have been extensively utilized and applied in domestic and global environments, including a Fortune 100 retail giant in USA .
These capabilities were reinforced by a fistful of qualifications. With a Masters in Public Administration ( M.A), he embarked on academic research . He acquired an M.Phil and immediately followed it up with a Doctorate, both from the prestigious Madras University. His PhD was awarded for his thesis on Health Administration, A study in Organization and Development. He did his research as a Junior Research fellow of the University Grants Commission of India ( UGC JRF ) .
His career was initiated at the department of Public management, South Gujarat University, Surat where he taught Organization Behaviour, Personnel Management and Business Communications to Post Graduate students.
Spurred by an urge for field work he took to marketing of electronic white goods for Fedders Lloyd and then moved to a company in commodity manufacturing, chemicals and hotels with responsibilities which included Public relations, Corporate Communications , and project management. In this context he was part of the team which put up one of the first joint venture hotels in south India through the Quality Inn group of the USA.
The next two decades were in the IT and ITES industries. He started with managing facilities and corporate communications for one of the IT giants, HCL Technologies Ltd and went on to head operations for one of the largest projects in the BPO division with the next stint in the USA as Director sales, HCL America Inc. again for HCL BPO. In the USA he handled the relationship of one of the largest Fortune 100 retail organizations based out of Florida.
He returned to India in 2010 to head the centre for Training and Deployment
( Campus Force) for the technologies division of HCL at Manesar, Gurgaon. He was instrumental in setting up the largest training facility for HCL at Manesar.
During his stint with HCL , besides managing projects, development and training centres he has up skilled about 10 000 engineers and managers in soft skills, effective communication and culture sensitization with focus on business communication.
Other training areas include Team building, Leadership and Customer Relations Management ( CRM ).
Trained non native English speaking professionals at the University of Miami, Florida from Jan to June 2009.
Is currently engaged in training managers specially in the Telecom industry in African countries including Kenya, Uganda , Tanzania and Nigeria.
Conducted effective communications session for about 100 S/W professionals in a large Fortune 500 Insurance company in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
Lecture sessions in 'Organizational Behaviour' for MBA students in several leading colleges, universities and management schools in Tamilnadu.
WRITING SKILLS :
Over a 100 published articles in the HINDU on cinema and business. Original features involving extensive interviews and discussions with media and business personalities.
